River Rehabilitation
My advisory work continues on the Rivers Dodder and Bandon, where major flood relief works have recently been completed. Hopefully high water levels will help to “bed in” the deflectors, resting pools, gravel shoals and boulders which have been installed along the areas affected by the schemes. Plans are in place to complete the fisheries works on the River Dodder between Herbert Park and Ballsbridge next spring, including the installation of a new weir just above Ballsbridge itself. Monitoring of the rate of recovery of the main stem and the tributaries affected by the flood relief works on the River Bandon will also commence next spring.
